Bournemouth Collegiate School

About Us

BCS is a very warm and welcoming environment and our small size allows for strong and lasting relationships to be developed. Because we know all the pupils well, we help them to reach beyond their potential, both academically and through our enrichment programme. Pastoral care is frequently commented upon as being a considerable strength and we take our responsibilities very seriously to ensure that all pupils are happy and supported.

We set in core subjects from Year 7 thus allowing the more able to be stretched while providing additional support for those who need it. Recent results of our Grammar equivalent pupils (top 30%) show they achieved 100% A* – B in Mathematics and 93% A* – B in English. Results across all subjects, all abilities and all ages show that we add value in all areas.

Class sizes are small, averaging 16 in Year 7-9, 14 at GCSE and at AS and A2 a normal class averages at 7 students. It is not surprising that we can provide such top quality individual learning.

We recognise that academic success is important but we believe in developing the whole individual and alongside the curriculum our extensive activities program allows for the 4Cs (curiosity, creativity, commitment and community) to develop in every pupil.

The Senior School is warm, friendly and welcoming and has a focus and ambition to help bring out the best in every pupil.
